Sustainability at BE

At BE Uniforms, we’re taking responsibility for our carbon footprint. We’ve got measures in place at our head office, factory and across all stores to make sure we’re eco-friendly where possible. We hope our schools can be confident in knowing just what impact their school uniform has on the environment when they choose BE as their supplier.

SCHOOL UNIFORM BANK PARTNERSHIPS

We are currently in the process of creating partnerships where all 9 of our stores are based with local school uniform banks. We currently collect used uniform in our Glasgow and Edinburgh stores, and soon will be collecting in Dundee and Falkirk. We’re still on the lookout for local uniform banks in other areas, but we hope to have this in place across all stores by 2023. Not only are we giving back to the communities where our stores are based, we are also helping to re-use and recycle uniform so it does not end up in landfill whilst it’s still in a wearable condition.

GREENER DELIVERY

GREENER DELIVERY

Our factory ships out hundreds of boxes per day. Each box we use has arrived into us from our suppliers with uniform to be embroidered - we reuse and recycle them all. We also use DPD for shipping our orders - and they’re aiming to become the greenest delivery company on the planet! You can see how they’re hoping to achieve this online here: https://green.dpd.co.uk/

RENEWABLE ENERGY

We are currently going through the process of adding solar panels to our factory roof. We use a lot of electricity at our factory to power our embroidery and print machines, office computers and lighting. Solar panels are incredibly environmentally friendly as they use only the natural renewable energy of the sun to generate electricity. This will allow us to lower the amount of greenhouse gas emissions we produce, making us a greener, more eco friendly business.

ECO FRIENDLY RANGES

We only use eco-friendly and sustainable suppliers wherever possible. Trutex, for example, is one of our main Schoolwear suppliers and they only use fabrics which are sustainably sourced, as well as being a completely carbon netural organisation. We can supply your school with all eco-friendly and sustainable uniform items, from recycled plastic blazers to organic cotton jumpers and polos. You can see all sustainable and eco uniform we have below. Contact our head office if you’re looking to make this change.
